Stacey Cleminson
It is with great sadness that the Arnhem 1944 Fellowship has been informed that Stacey Cleminson passed away on the 14 May in France after a long fight against cancer at the age of 68.
Stacey was the son of Sir James Cleminson, who commanded 5 Platoon, B Company, 3rd Parachute Battalion during the battle. It was his Platoon that opened fire on General Kussin at the Utrechtseweg/Wolfhezerweg crossroads. It was also Sir James who who was with General Urqhart and Brigadier Lathbury when they got stuck in the house near the St Elisabeths hospital.
You may remember that Stacey unveiled the Cleminson tree, near the Hartenstein museum in 2014.
The photos were taken at the 70th anniversary during the unveiling of the tree and show Stacey, David Locke and Hiltje van Eck.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
John Gerring,
Honorary Secretary.
